SDN

Software Defined Networking (SDN) is disaggregating the networking industry. Disaggregation allows a proprietary and closed integrated network device to be broken up into the key components of data plane, control plane and management plane. This allows for the underlying hardware switch to be purchased separately from the Network Operating System (NOS) that controls it. The hardware supports external programmability and control of its switching functionality as well as management. Inventec designs and manufactures such SDN enabled network switches also known as white boxes and sells to the global customer base. Today, Cloud Providers, Service Providers, Enterprises are all using SDN enabled switches due to various reasons. Some of them are using it to have a scalable, agile, flexible and programmable infrastructure. Others are using it to lower the Capex and Opex Capital and Operating expenditures namely Capex and Opex. There are many Open standards and the open ecosystem is managed by the Open Compute Project (OCP) and Open Data Cnter Committee (ODCC).

The Open Compute Project (OCP) is reimagining hardware, making it more efficient, flexible and scalable. It is a global community of technology leaders working together to break open the black box of proprietary IT infrastructure to achieve greater choice, customization and cost savings. We are proud to announce that Inventec is a Platinum member of Open Compute Project (OCP).

ODCC Promotes industry cooperation, industrial innovation and new technology through open, collaborative, innovative solutions. We are proud to be a member of the ODCC.
